Civil wars fought over mines

As we sit serene
Staring at screens
The plasma glow distracts
The iPhone detracts
From connecting the dots
And making what ought
To be an obvious association
Between the means of exploitation
Used to make the material things we enjoy
These playthings and toys
That empire deploys
To keep us content and convinced
That we deserve this state of opulence

As if a vampire doesn’t exist by sucking the blood of its victim
